Signs of Relapse

Sober Community questionsWorking with a 12-step community like alcohol rehabilitation in NH like GateHouse means you are given access to tools to help you maintain your current sobriety. Working with other recovering addicts at different stages of sobriety can be helpful in a number of ways, and one of the most important is identifying signs of a possible relapse. We want to help you in anyway we can to keep leading the positive path ahead of you and want to offer some indicators you might be headed towards regretful decisions.
The “just one more time” mentality. If you have found yourself fantasizing about using recently, or believe that if you used “just one more time” to get it out of your system, seek assistance. This isn’t an uncommon thought process when we are subconsciously thinking about relapsing, and having support could change your perspective.
Allowing yourself around places or environments that serves as triggers. One of the first things taught to our participants are new, positive ways to fill the time we would have once spent abuse drugs or alcohol, and revisiting these possible triggers could very easily reverse the progress you have made away from this lifestyle.
You’re hiding your feelings. Lying is a common trait with addicts, and you are no longer that same person, but when you fall back into habits of keeping emotions or actions to yourself, no matter how big or small, you can be leading yourself back down an old, dangerous path.
You have become detached from your rehab program. Though we might be moving towards bigger and better things in our lives as we are sober, disconnecting yourself from this community can be detrimental to your success.

Recovery isn’t a one-time deal, it’s a constant journey you will be facing for the rest of your life and the best way to combat any negative changes in your new life is to constantly be involved with and speak openly with your community. If you are searching for alcohol rehabilitation in New Hampshire, GateHouse can help. With more questions, call us today at (855) 448-3638.
